The monster under my bed

I thought I'd take this opportunity to thank all of you for reading my blog. Because I might be dead by this afternoon. Seriously. Something's bitten my arm and left an ENORMOUS ugly pussy red lump there. Which just goes to show that ...
  1. I really do live in deepest darkest Africa, where deadly bugs roam at night;
  2. Life is unpredictable and you could get bitten by some venomous monster while blissfully unaware of it and wake up to find that your arm has fallen off, or you could even not wake up at all!
  3. I need my hubby back so he can hunt the blasted bug down and exercise some deadly force.
  4. I probably need to admit that I'm a bit of a hypochondriac, after all.

Being the blood and guts pimple popping lover that I am, I've been dying to squeeze it and pop it. Just to see what happens. And to make sure that it is, in fact, a bite, and not a nest for some bug's eggs. Which would make me an incubator. Ew! OK, I'm even grossing myself out.

(I fuzzed out the picture because this is a family friendly site, after all! And because there were all sorts of body parts in the pic as I played the contortionist to capture that image...)

So anyway, just in case I do in fact perish today, farewell fair friends! Adieu! I hope life treats you kindly.

Really Char, if there was a monster under your bed, don't you think that because you are so sweet, that he would've eaten you up completely? What will we do with you? Love Aurette

A few weeks ago I had a nasty bite on my leg; not only was the bite red and raised, but there was a red circle that grew around it, with a tail spiraling out, all underneath the skin, not raised, and increasing in size. I was just a little worried, but whatever it was, it disapppeared! Hope you too survive...(silly girl)

That is a disgusting bite. What on Earth sort of bug leaves that kind of a welt, and how on Earth did you not wake up when it happened??

You know, I had decided a while ago that I'm simply too neurotic and obsessive to own one of those doppler things. I know that I would cause myself undue stress and heartache if I used the stupid thing and was unable to find the heartbeat... finally, FINALLY, good to hear a story of someone who was unable to use hers.

I've been listening to the radio and watching the breaking news alerts on news24.com and phew! you're still ok! :) Hope it dimishes in size, but if it doesn't, get to a doctor ASAP.

Have you tried immersing your arm in very warm (almost hot) water for periods of time? (like three times a day 10-15 minutes each) This is a great way to get infection out. And if you're big into squeezing the gook, chances are you'll get to do some productive squeezing.
Hope the monster goes away soon!
